We are sure that you have heard the quotes, "reading is fundamental" or "knowledge is power," but while these quotes may sound cliche, the truth is about 38 percent of the United States population is illiterate. Without the basic concept of reading, opportunities for advancement in life become slim to none. Illiteracy is a debilitating handicap that affects the future of children everywhere.

That being said, the Sisterhood of Pi Nu Iota proudly promotes our philanthropy - children's literacy. It is our hope that our efforts will improve literacy in kids and give them a chance to maximize their potential.

The Sisters of Pi Nu Iota have volunteered countless hours towards organizing workshops for the kids, helping in administrative work, providing woman power at events, and holding our annual community service fundraiser, "Literacy Laps."
